Softball Recap: Francis W. Parker Colonels vs. Walther Christian Academy Broncos
After flying high against Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park last Friday, Francis W. Parker came back down to earth. The Francis W. Parker Colonels fell just short of the Walther Christian Academy Broncos by a score of 15-14 on Tuesday. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
For Walther Christian Academy's part, Jocelyn Rivera made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (she also only allowed one walk). Rivera was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Selah Argueta was incredible, going 1-for-3 with a home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Leslie Anguiano, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Francis W. Parker now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Walther Christian Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Francis W. Parker is on the road again on Wednesday to play Cristo Rey Jesuit at 5:00 p.m. As for Walther Christian Academy, they will square off against Proviso East at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
