Volleyball Recap: Coastal Academy's Win Ends Nine-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Coastal Academy's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the El Camino Wildcats. This was payback for the Stingrays, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Coastal Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 28-26, 25-10, 25-18.

Cobyn Palmer paced Coastal Academy's offense, picking up 29 kills. Palmer got some help from Cole Sulouff and his 43 assists. Zac Garland controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

El Camino lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nathanael Scharff, who had 26 assists and four digs. That's the most assists he has posted over his last 11 games.

Coastal Academy's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-9. As for El Camino, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 9-8.

Coastal Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Escondido Charter on the 25th. As for El Camino, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against San Dieguito Academy on the 25th.
