Soccer Game Preview: Poway vs. Rancho Bernardo

The Poway Titans will head out on the road to challenge the Rancho Bernardo Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Poway's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Poway is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Westview on Friday. The Titans fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 2-1.

Poway's goal came courtesy of Alan Ayala, who's now up to four this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rancho Bernardo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Mission Hills by a score of 4-2 on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given Rancho Bernardo's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 530th, while Mission Hills are ranked 214th).

Poway's loss dropped their record down to 4-11-5. As for Rancho Bernardo, with the victory, they broke their five-match losing streak and moved their record to 6-10-2.

Poway got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in January against Rancho Bernardo by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
