It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Carroll County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Dixie Heights Colonels, sneaking past 15-14. While the Panthers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The victory made it two in a row for Carroll County and bumps their season record up to 5-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Dixie Heights, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Carroll County Panthers face off against Bellevue Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dixie Heights, they will venture away from home to face off against Villa Madonna at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Dixie Heights' pitchers better be ready for this one: Villa Madonna has averaged an impressive 11.5 runs per game this season.
