Basketball Game Preview: Utopia Buffaloes vs. Rocksprings Angoras

Utopia hasn't had much luck against Rocksprings recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Utopia Buffaloes will host the Rocksprings Angoras at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Utopia comes in on six and Rocksprings on three.

Utopia is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Medina to the tune of 86-41 on Tuesday. The Buffaloes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Rocksprings sidestepped D'Hanis for a 64-62 victory.

Rocksprings' win came from a few key players Utopia will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Hunter Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards. His evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Roy Estrada was another key player, going 8 of 14 en route to 18 points and five rebounds.

Rocksprings smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Rocksprings has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Utopia, they pushed their record up to 25-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home.

Utopia came up short against Rocksprings when the teams last played back in January, falling 82-73. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Taylor, who dropped a triple-double on 28 points, 18 boards, and ten assists. Now that Utopia knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
