Football Game Preview: Daniel Lions vs. Camden Bulldogs

Daniel is a perfect 3-0 against Camden since December of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lions will host the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Daniel is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.

Daniel is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They secured a 14-10 W over Dreher. Those 14 points were actually the fewest the Lions have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Daniel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kingsten Bibb led the charge by rushing for 104 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Camden, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They enjoyed a cozy 38-20 win over Greer on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 118th).

Camden's win came from a few key players Daniel will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Navier Boykin, who rushed for 126 yards and three scores while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Smith, who rushed for 93 yards and one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Camden was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 282 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 170 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Daniel's record is now 10-1. As for Camden, their record now sits at 8-3.

Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Jace Grass and Greyson Rimpf. Grass just won't slow down this season and has thrown 30 touchdowns (and and only 2 pick) while averaging 247.9 passing yards per game. Rimpf has been a dominant force too and has averaged 186.4 passing yards per game.

Daniel won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in December of 2023, slipping by Camden 49-48. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
