Baseball Recap: Robertson Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Robertson, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They blew past the Ruidoso Warriors 13-3 on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cardinals also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Diego Jaramillo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elijah Ortiz, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Nathan Burch also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Robertson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ruidoso only posted an OBP of .346.

The win got Robertson back to even at 2-2. As for Ruidoso, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ruidoso beat Robertson by a score of 5-2 later that day.
