Softball Game Preview: Canterbury Crusaders vs. Westminster Academy Lions

The Canterbury Crusaders will take on the Westminster Academy Lions in a tournament on Friday. Westminster Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Canterbury, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with nine defeats in a row, Canterbury turned things around against Bishop McLaughlin Catholic on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Hurricanes. The Crusaders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Westminster Academy fell victim to Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 13-0 to the Stallions. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Lions' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Westminster Academy has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Canterbury, their victory bumped their record up to 2-13.

Everything went Canterbury's way against Westminster Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2021, as Canterbury made off with an 11-0 win. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
