Softball Recap: Waynesfield-Goshen Drops Season-High Score on Allen East

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Waynesfield-Goshen). Everything went their way against the Allen East Mustangs on Wednesday as they made off with a 19-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Tarynn Vorhes was a standout: she scored four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna Shaw, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Waynesfield-Goshen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Waynesfield-Goshen and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Allen East, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waynesfield-Goshen will square off against Cory-Rawson at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Allen East, they will face off against Van Buren at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
