League recap: Willows wins, gets boost in standings

Sacramento Valley recap September 10, 2013

Willows was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to first in Sacramento Valley. The Honkers vanquished Gridley 28-6 earlier in the week.

Trinity scaled the state rankings by moving to 482 from 616 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Wolves climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Arcata 60-0.

BRANDON ACORD was a passing and rushing force as Mt. Shasta defeated University Prep. He completed 12 passes for 209 yards and 3 touchdowns and also ran for 114 yards. ACORD's favorite target this week was CESAR GONZALEZ, who caught 3 passes for 85 yards.

GONZALEZ was the best receiver in the league this week as the Bears bested the Panthers. DOMINIC TOGNOLINI helped Mt. Shasta's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 60 yards.

Jake Voorhees threw for 53 yards and 53 touchdowns.

Voorhees put up the best numbers through the air as Pierce fell to Hamilton. Voorhees' favorite target this week was Adolfo Ramirez, who caught 2 passes for 57 yards.

ACORD was the best running back in Sacramento Valley this week. Teammate DANIEL BENHAM added to the ground attack by rushing for 73 yards.

Trinity took down the Tigers 60-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
