Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Lyon County

Lyon County extended their winning streak to four on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 9-4 in the process. They blew past the Livingston Central Cardinals 18-7. The Lyons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

On the hitting side, John Bingham was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Phillips, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Lyon County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Livingston Central only posted a batting average of .318.

As for Livingston Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.

On Livingston Central's side, Drew Hosick made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Hosick has become a key player for the Cardinals: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jayce Gillette, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Lyon County is taking a road trip to square off against Henderson County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Livingston Central, they will welcome Madisonville-North Hopkins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
