Softball Recap: McAllen Find Success

McAllen won the last time they faced Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial and things went their way on Saturday too. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Wolverines by a score of 6-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Eliana Villanueva was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Giada Farias, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

McAllen now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-13.

Coming up, McAllen will face off against Mercedes at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Tigers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
