Baseball Recap: Sparta Comes Up Short

Sparta came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Cassville Wildcats by a score of 8-6 on Friday. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Jase Applegate made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Sparta dropped their record down to 4-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Cassville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3-1 record this season.

Sparta will square off against Ash Grove at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cassville, they will challenge Lamar at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
