Football Game Preview: Sequoia Ravens vs. Half Moon Bay Cougars + How To Watch

For the first time this season, Sequoia will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After each having a week off, they and the Half Moon Bay Cougars will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sequoia's defense has only allowed 14.5 points per game this season, so Half Moon Bay's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Sequoia is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against South San Francisco last Friday. The Ravens fell 14-9 to the Warriors. Having soared to a lofty 49 points in the game before, the Ravens couldn't push the score so high this time.

Sequoia didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jayden Russi, Juan Rivera, and Luke Ostrander picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Half Moon Bay got themselves on the board against Fremont last Friday, but Fremont never followed suit. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 48-0 victory over the Firebirds. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cougars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 385th, while the Firebirds are ranked 812th).

Half Moon Bay's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Sequoia, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Sequoia won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in October of 2024, slipping by Half Moon Bay 21-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ravens since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
