Basketball Game Preview: Holmes Huskies vs. Marshall Rams

The Holmes Huskies will head out on the road to square off against the Marshall Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Holmes has now lost 13 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 22.

On Friday, Holmes came up short against O'Connor and fell 76-64. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 959th, while the Panthers are ranked 241st).

Meanwhile, Marshall had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down MacArthur 59-42 on Friday. The matchup marked the Rams' most dominant victory of the season.

Marshall's win came from a few key players Holmes will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jai Lopez, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Vidaurri, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Holmes' defeat dropped their record down to 4-21. As for Marshall, their win bumped their record up to 9-15.

Holmes strolled past Marshall in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 72-54. Will Holmes repeat their success, or does Marshall have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
