Summit extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 11-4 in the process. They blew past the Rifle Bears 24-14. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Hogan Tobias and Matty Misch did most of the damage at the plate: Tobias got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Misch got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Tobias has posted since back in March. Gus Bradford was another key player, going 4-for-6 with two RBI and one run.
Summit hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rifle struck out 11 times.
As for Rifle, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7. On the bright side, the 14- run effort marked their highest-scoring match to date.
On Rifle's side, they saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Remington Decrow, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. Another was Joseph Spritzer, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Summit will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Glenwood Springs at 4:00 p.m. on the 30th. As for Rifle, they are taking a road trip to take on Delta at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight.
