Baseball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Scott County's Winning Streak

Scott County dropped their record down to 22-10 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 7-2 to the Lexington Catholic Knights. Surprisingly, this marked the Cardinals' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Luke Huffman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Lexington Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games.

On Lexington Catholic's side, Eamon Hughes tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Jake Scott was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Jenkins, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Coming up, Scott County will square off against Madison Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Lexington Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
