After a string of four wins, New Berlin West's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Brookfield East Spartans by a score of 2-1. If the Vikings were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Spartans when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, New Berlin West sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 16-25, 15-11.

Willow Kumprey paced New Berlin West's offense, picking up 11 kills. Kumprey got some help from Mikayla Martin and her 12 assists. Finally, Kylie Tuescher kept New Berlin West's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

New Berlin West's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Brookfield East, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 26-8.

New Berlin West has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Waterford on the 4th. As for Brookfield East, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Brookfield Central on the 4th.
