Soccer Recap: Juneau-Douglas Takes Down Ranked Lathrop

Juneau-Douglas faced Lathrop in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Crimson Bears came out on top in a nail-biter against the Malemutes, sneaking past 2-1. Alyssa Travis had to tread lightly for part of the match after she was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble Juneau-Douglas got from the refs.

Peyton Wheeler was the driving force of Juneau-Douglas' attack as she scored both of Juneau-Douglas' goals, bringing her season total up to 12 goals.

The victory got Juneau-Douglas back to even at 5-5-1. As for Lathrop, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Malemutes beat Juneau-Douglas by a score of 2-0 on Friday.
