Basketball Recap: Merrill Comes Up Short

Merrill played a tough matchup on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 55-33 to the St. Charles Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vandals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-40 back in December of 2024.

Allison Zelinko was her usual excellent self, going 8 of 12 to rack up 19 points in addition to five assists and five boards for St. Charles. The contest was Zelinko's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Nicole Zelinko was another key player, putting up eight points along with five assists and five steals.

Merrill's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for St. Charles, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

Looking ahead, Merrill will welcome Ithaca at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Charles, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-47 win against Ashley on the 7th.
