Volleyball Recap: Santaluces Comes Up Short

Santaluces extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-8. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Boynton Beach Tigers. The Chiefs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

As for Boynton Beach, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Santaluces since September 28, 2019.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Boynton Beach to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jannessa Tobia, who had six kills, six blocks, and three aces. Those six blocks gave Tobia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Algemar Alvarado,, who had 19 assists and three digs.

Santaluces and Boynton Beach are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Chiefs will take on Park Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Boynton Beach, they will venture away from home to challenge Suncoast at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
