Preview: North Charleston Cougars vs. Battery Creek Dolphins
Two dominant guards in Marco Simpson and Alizjah Mathis are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The North Charleston Cougars will play host again and welcome the Battery Creek Dolphins, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully North Charleston focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Saturday.
North Charleston put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season. They blew past Burke 74-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win North Charleston has posted since December 15, 2023.
North Charleston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Simpson led the charge by scoring ten points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Onarae Grant, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Battery Creek's recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their third straight loss. They took a 48-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Beaufort.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jayvorie Cole, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mathis, who scored 12 points.
North Charleston pushed their record up to 12-8 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Battery Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
North Charleston strolled past Battery Creek in their previous meeting on January 5th by a score of 62-46. Does North Charleston have another victory up their sleeve, or will Battery Creek turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
