Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Vernon Mustangs vs. Solon Spartans

The Mt. Vernon Mustangs will take on the Solon Spartans in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Vernon will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

Last Friday, Mt. Vernon was able to grind out a solid win over Williamsburg, taking the game 52-40.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Solon). They were the clear victor by a 66-46 margin over Benton on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Solon's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Mt. Vernon, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Mt. Vernon came up short against Solon in their previous meeting back in February, falling 56-46. Can Mt. Vernon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
