Basketball Recap: Providence Cristo Rey Wolves vs. Irvington Preparatory Academy

The Providence Cristo Rey Wolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 11th straight loss. Their tough 90-67 defeat to Irvington Preparatory Academy might stick with them for a while. Providence Cristo Rey was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-26.

Irvington Preparatory Academy had a senior duo take command as Major Davis scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks and Javen Medaris scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Davis is crushing the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahmere Evans, who scored 12 points.

Providence Cristo Rey dropped their record down to 1-15 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Irvington Preparatory Academy, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Providence Cristo Rey will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gryphons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Irvington Preparatory Academy will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Victory College Prep and the are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
