League recap: Sachse tops Flower Mound to extend winning streak

5A Region II District 11 recap Sept. 26, 2012

Sachse extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region II District 11 this week by beating Flower Mound, 29-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

North Garland moved up to 859 from 988 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 41-18 win over the Raiders helped the Raiders improve their standing.

Sachse's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kent Myers threw for 352 and three touchdowns and Tyrique Edwards had 173 yards receiving. On the ground Devine Ozigbo chipped in 102 yards. Austin Williams helped Sachse's passing attack out by catching five balls for 60 yards.

On the ground, Lakeview Centennial's DEMARCUS HALL has rushed for 528 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Chris Heath. The Rowlett star has 26 catches for 410 yards.

A big matchup in 5A Region II District 11 this week will be when Mark Behrens's team takes on North Garland. As it stands, the Mustangs are in first, while David Farris's team is in fifth.

South Garland led the league in scoring this week after putting up 31 points on North Mesquite.
