 Matanzas and Menendez are an even 5-5 against one another  since December of 2018, but  not for long. The Matanzas Pirates will look to defend their home court  on Wednesday against the Menendez Falcons at 7:30  p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication,  the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
 Last Saturday, Matanzas was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap  as they fell  63-58 to Cocoa. Matanzas has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 Matanzas'  defeat came about despite a quality game from  Rya'sir Jefferson, who  scored 25 points along with two  steals. That was a full 43.1% of Matanzas' points, marking the third time in a row he's  earned more than a third of the team's points.  Tariq Shakir was another key contributor,  scoring 15 points.
 Meanwhile, Menendez's recent rough patch got a bit rougher  on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a   65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Harvest Community.
 Matanzas' defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Menendez, they now  have a losing record at 8-9.
