Soccer Game Preview: Mourning vs. Booker T. Washington

The Mourning Sharks will challenge the Booker T. Washington Tornadoes at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mourning is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Palmetto just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. 2025 welcomed they with a 7-0 loss courtesy of the Panthers. Considering the last time the Sharks couldn't score was back in November of 2024, the team can't take the result too hard.

Meanwhile, Booker T. Washington had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.6 goals) and they went ahead and made it eight back in December of 2024. They never let the Golden Hawks onto the board and left with an 8-0 win. The Tornadoes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by three goals or more this season.

Genesis Cardona and Ana Delgado scored all eight of Booker T. Washington's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 41 goals.

Booker T. Washington's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those four contests. As for Mourning, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2.

Mourning took their win against Booker T. Washington in their previous matchup back in December of 2021 by a conclusive 5-0. Will Mourning repeat their success, or does Booker T. Washington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
