Softball Recap: Sunset Park Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Sunset Park waltzed into their contest on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Canarsie Wolfpack 17-6. The result was nothing new for the HEAT, who have now won five matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Ransely Rodriguez and Selena Espinal did most of the damage at the plate: Rodriguez fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-2, while Espinal went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Espinal is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Melanea Francisco, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Sunset Park lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Sunset Park's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. As for Canarsie, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunset Park will host Lafayette at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Canarsie, they will challenge Bushwick at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Wolfpack's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
