Baseball Game Preview: Oak Lawn Spartans vs. Oak Forest Bengals

Oak Lawn hasn't had much luck against Oak Forest recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Spartans will head out to face off against the Bengals at 4:30 p.m.

Oak Lawn is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Lemont on Tuesday. They came up short against the Lemont HS, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Spartans have suffered since April 19th.

Oak Lawn saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Olejniczak, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Oak Forest entered their tilt with Bremen on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 12-3 victory. The Bengals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by seven runs or more this season.

Oak Forest's win bumped their record up to 16-9-1. As for Oak Lawn, their loss dropped their record down to 13-11.

Oak Lawn couldn't quite get it done against Oak Forest in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
