Softball Game Preview: South Columbus Stallions vs. East Columbus Gators

The South Columbus Stallions will square off against the East Columbus Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

South Columbus took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with an 11-8 win over Pender. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Stallions considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Meanwhile, East Columbus earned a 9-5 victory over East Bladen on Friday. The Gators haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Gracie Coyle made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. Coyle was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, East Columbus let Aleigh Godwin and Jenna King run wild. Godwin scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while King went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kamora Bryant, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The victory snapped South Columbus' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record. As for East Columbus, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

South Columbus couldn't quite finish off East Columbus in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can South Columbus avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
