Basketball Recap: Norfolk Christian Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Norfolk Christian had won five straight home games dating back to last season and Justice Brown-Jones did her part to make it six on Tuesday. The Norfolk Christian Ambassadors managed a 65-61 victory over the Steward Spartans thanks in part to Brown-Jones, who went 9 of 19 en route to 24 points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Tamia Dyson, who posted seven points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in blocks (two).

Steward's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hali Harris, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 18 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Savannah Martin, who had 15 points and eight rebounds.

Norfolk Christian is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Steward, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.

Norfolk Christian and Steward should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Norfolk Christian will take on Norfolk Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 101 places (10 vs. 111). Norfolk Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.5 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Steward (ranked 46th) will meet Peninsula Catholic (ranked 368th) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
