Basketball Game Preview: Times Squared Academy Eagles vs. Paul Cuffee

The Times Squared Academy Eagles will square off against Paul Cuffee at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Times Squared Academy has three straight victories, Paul Cuffee has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

While Times Squared Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging an 87-37 win over Scituate. That 50 point margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Justin Urey and Yomy Garcia were among the main playmakers for Times Squared Academy as the former posted 24 points and the latter had 18 points. Garcia's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Steven Garcia was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Meanwhile, Paul Cuffee was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 56-51 to St. Raphael Academy.

Paul Cuffee's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Times Squared Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-1.

Times Squared Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Paul Cuffee when the teams last played back in January of 2022, but they still walked away with a 68-64 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Times Squared Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
