Softball Game Preview: Desert Ridge Jaguars vs. Williams Field Black Hawks

The Desert Ridge Jaguars will face off against the Williams Field Black Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.

Last Thursday, Desert Ridge narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Higley 8-7. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Novi Muffo looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Desert Ridge got a big performance out of Brooklyn Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Johnson hit this season. Aleeya Barwick was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Williams Field was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They came up short against Gilbert, falling 20-2. The Black Hawks have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Williams Field's loss dropped their record down to 7-10-1. As for Desert Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.

Everything went Desert Ridge's way against Williams Field in their previous meeting back in March of 2016, as Desert Ridge made off with a 15-1 win. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Black Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
