Union County win going away against Athens Academy

Recap: Union County Panthers vs. Athens Academy Spartans

After losing to The Athens Academy Spartans the last time they met, the Union County Panthers decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Union County took down Athens Academy 35-21 on Friday. That's two games straight that Union County has won by exactly 14 points.

Union County had a senior duo take command as Caiden Tanner threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns while completing 90.5% of his passes and Braylen Rader rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Rader was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Grasty, who picked up 62 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Union County's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.3 points per game. As for Athens Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Union County will head out on the road to face off against Fellowship Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fellowship Christian is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Athens Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against East Jackson at 7:30 p.m. East Jackson is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
