Baseball Game Preview: Hayfield Hawks vs. Lewis Lancers

Hayfield has gone a perfect 6-0 against Lewis recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Hawks will be playing at home against the Lancers at 6:00 p.m. Hayfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Hayfield made easy work of Justice and carried off a 16-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won nine in a row.

Hayfield got a massive performance out of Jack Ross, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave Ross a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Connor Watson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Hayfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Lewis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 19-0 to Edison.

Hayfield's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Lewis, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Hayfield took their victory against Lewis when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 26-0 score. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
