Baseball Recap: Summit Victorious

Summit won the last time they faced Union Catholic and things went their way on Friday too. The Hilltoppers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Vikings 6-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hilltoppers.

The team relied heavily on Gavin Schnall, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of TJ Flack, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Summit's record now sits at 5-7. As for Union Catholic, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-4.

Looking ahead, Summit will host Scotch Plains-Fanwood at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Union Catholic, they will challenge Cranford at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
