Baseball Recap: Sahuaro Find Success

Sahuaro's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They never let the Poston Butte Broncos get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 7-6 loss the last time these two teams met.

The result came thanks to Johnathan Gonzalez's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sahuaro's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Stephan Arellamo, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Sam Chavez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Sahuaro's win bumped their record up to 2-8-1. As for Poston Butte, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sahuaro will welcome Tanque Verde at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Poston Butte, they will host Combs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
