Soccer Game Preview: Freeland vs. Alma

The Freeland Falcons will venture away from home to face off against the Alma Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Freeland's last five games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Freeland had taken Glenn down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Falcons fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that Freeland have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Alma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They lost 7-0 to Garber. While losing is never fun, Alma can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 313th, while Garber are ranked 25th).

Freeland's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Alma, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Everything went Freeland's way against Alma when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Freeland made off with a 4-1 victory. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
