Basketball Game Preview: First Baptist Christian Warriors vs. Rosehill Christian Eagles

First Baptist Christian and Rosehill Christian are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The First Baptist Christian Warriors will head out to take on the Rosehill Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for First Baptist Christian and nine for Rosehill Christian.

First Baptist Christian is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 58 points on Friday, they were much more limited against St. Francis Episcopal on Tuesday. They were outmatched by the Wolves and fell 79-27. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 931st, while the Wolves are ranked 42nd).

Meanwhile, Rosehill Christian came up short against St. Thomas Episcopal on Tuesday and fell 59-46. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly 13 points.

First Baptist Christian will need focus on slowing down Carter Johnson, one of several Rosehill Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 13 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. David Gomez was another key player, putting up 14 points and eight boards.

Rosehill Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 13-16. As for First Baptist Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

First Baptist Christian came up short against Rosehill Christian when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 40-29. Can First Baptist Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
