The home team had won the previous four meetings between Parkersburg South and Parkersburg, and Parkersburg South kept the tradition alive. The Patriots' pitcher stepped up to hand the Big Reds an 8-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Patriots have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexi Dellinger tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alison Marcum, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailey Lockhart, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Parkersburg South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Parkersburg South pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Parkersburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.
