Softball Recap: North Baltimore Drops Highest Score of Season Against Vanlue

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Baltimore). They put the hurt on the Vanlue Wildcats with a sharp 21-2 win on Saturday. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won three contests in a row.

Kenzey Young made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Young was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, North Baltimore got a massive performance out of Peyton Coykendall, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Coykendall also got two hits, marking her first of the season. Brynlee Schmidt was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

North Baltimore kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

North Baltimore now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Vanlue, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coming up, North Baltimore is taking a road trip to square off against Cory-Rawson at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Vanlue, they will welcome Liberty-Benton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
