Softball Recap: Pathfinder RVT Takes a Loss

Pathfinder RVT dropped their record down to 6-2 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Franklin County Tech Eagles, falling 7-0. The match marked the first time this season in which the Pioneers were not able to get on the board.

As for Franklin County Tech, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-3. Their pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last six contests.

For Franklin County Tech's part, Hannah Gilbert was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Gilbert has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI.

Gilbert wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kylee Gamache, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Ava Worden was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.

Looking ahead, Pathfinder RVT will head out to take on Pope Francis Prep at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Pioneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 16.4 runs per game this season. As for Franklin County Tech, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Pioneer Valley Regional at 4:00 p.m. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
