Basketball Recap: Philip Takes a Loss

Philip was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Harding County Ranchers and fell 71-39. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Scotties of the 64-51 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Several Scotties players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josie Jones, who posted 13 points and six steals. Philip is 3-1 when Jones posts five or more steals, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Drew Terkildsen, who had eight points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Kamry Padden continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Harding County, going 7-for-12 on her way to 20 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Padden a new career-high in points. Raelee Hunsucker was another key player, going 5-for-12 en route to 16 points.

Philip's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Harding County, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.

Philip didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-41 win against White River on the 21st. As for Harding County, they have also already played their next game, a 61-24 victory against Edgemont on the 21st.
