Football Recap: Overbrook Takes a Loss

Overbrook had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it seven. They were dealt a 54-6 loss at the hands of the Thomas A. Edison Owls. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-0.

As for Thomas A. Edison, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.8 points on average this season.

Ahmir Ponder had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 214 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 81 yards and one TD. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 112 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Overbrook will head out on the road to challenge Academy at Palumbo at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Griffin's defense has only allowed eight points per game this season, so the Panthers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Thomas A. Edison, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
