Baseball Recap: Vela Comes Up Short

Vela has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.79 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They lost 12-1 to the United South Panthers. The Sabercats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Vela saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Rodriguez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

This is the second loss in a row for Vela and nudges their season record down to 8-6. As for United South, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: United South beat Vela by a score of 12-1 later that day.
