Football Game Preview: Oil City Oilers vs. Franklin Knights + How To Watch

Oil City is 8-2 against Franklin since September of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Oilers will host the Knights at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oil City has five straight victories, Franklin has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Oil City is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Warren 61-7 on Friday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-7.

Steven Heise was his usual excellent self, rushing for 173 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in August.

Oil City's run defense was locked in: Warren could only muster -2.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Blake Stevens for the heroic effort on defense: he. Oil City didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged nine.

Oil City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Heise led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Brayden Buzard has been hot, having also posted six or more total tackles the last five times he's played. Heise got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Franklin took a blow against Eisenhower on Friday, falling 42-13.

Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Oil City, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Everything came up roses for Oil City against Franklin in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-6 victory. Will the Oilers repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
