Softball Recap: Mohawk Area Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Mohawk Area had won four straight at home, but on Wednesday they bumped their record up to 9-3 to make it five. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Quaker Valley Quakers. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Reagan Magno made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addy Moskal, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Ally Granato also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Mohawk Area hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Quaker Valley struck out 11 times.

As for Quaker Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Quaker Valley's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie DeGori, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mohawk Area will take on rival Hopewell at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Quaker Valley is set to face off against their familiar foe Ellwood City at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
