Basketball Recap: Millbrook Takes a Loss

Millbrook played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 75-39 loss at the hands of the Rolesville Rams. The Wildcats have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Millbrook saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Grace Bardeen went 5 for 10 en route to 14 points. That's the most points Bardeen has posted since back in December of 2024.

Rolesville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caitlyn Jones led the charge by going 9 of 18 on her way to 19 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Jones also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Rolesville is undefeated when she posts at least five steals, but 8-9 otherwise. Jahriell Murchison was another key player, going 6 for 10 to rack up 15 points along with seven steals and five assists.

Millbrook now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Rolesville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Wildcats duke it out with the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Millbrook is facing Wake Forest at the right time seeing as Wake Forest is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Rolesville, they will face off against Heritage at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Rolesville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
