Basketball Recap: Northwest Takes a Loss

Northwest and East faced off in a cross-town battle on Tuesday. The Northwest Grizzlies were outmatched by the East Aces and fell 92-30. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Aces are ranked 105th).

Northwest has also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for East, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwest will challenge Bishop Carroll on Friday. As for East, they are taking a road trip to face off against Heights on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Heights has won five straight at home, while East won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
