Basketball Recap: Cheraw Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from De'shaun Drake and Anthony Strong

Cheraw was the 51-43 winner over Chesterfield when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Cheraw Braves fell just short of the Chesterfield Golden Rams by a score of 48-45 on Friday. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anthony Strong and De'Shaun Drake certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Strong dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Drake went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points along with five boards and three steals. That's the most points Strong has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elijah McClain, who earned ten points.

Cheraw's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Chesterfield, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-14.

Looking ahead, Cheraw is taking a road trip to face off against Andrew Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chesterfield, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against North Central at 8:30 p.m. Chesterfield is facing North Central at the right time seeing as North Central is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
